Gross Misuse of Free of Cost Fuel

ISLAMABAD: The government is spending millions every month from the taxpayers’ money merely on the petrol facility of federal ministers amid reports of gross misuse of free of cost provision of fuel by those who are affluent but still involved in this petty corruption.
A finance ministry source, while revealing that a federal minister consumed almost Rs 70,000 petrol in just one month, said that the government provides unlimited petrol facility to federal ministers for just one staff car provided to them but they are misusing the facility for other vehicles too.
The source said that in addition to the misuse of the ministers’ fuel facility, the staff of these political masters also get free fuel for the unauthorised vehicles provided to them. None of the ministerial staff, including the private secretary (PS), is authorised under the law to have official vehicles, but, in most of the cases, the senior staff of the federal ministers is illegally provided official conveyance and free petrol.

This is only interesting to know that someone can consume Rs 70,000 worth of petrol in a month. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. In fact the mess is greater! Much greater and much worse? Its eating into the vitals of the country.
Please look at this:
Why in the first instance, the government has allowed unlimited facility? Shouldn't the govt. fix a limit? Yes the government should! But read on to guage the misuse of fuel:
Even more serious is the number of vehicles arrogated per minister and per officer? There are ministers who have upto 10 cars at their disposal and all are illegal! Generals have seven cars at their disposal and all illegal!! All other officers in Grade 22 have more than 2 vehicles!!! All illegal!!! Several favorites of the establishment have more than one vehicles. All illegal!!! Some Grade 21, 20 and 19 too have more than one vehicle with them. All illegal!!! And to rub salt in the wounds of this traumatized nation, fuel for all vehicles is paid by the government – the poorest taxpayers of this county. Even worse, fuel limit is not by the person authorized but by per car. Anyone can well imagine the misuse. Wait for more! Mostly the fuel limit is enhanced artificially and mischievously by circumventing the rules to enjoy unlimited fuel. Then note the mischievous invention of the word protocol. Every Tom, Dick and Harry thinks he is doing protocol duty and thus expensive cars have been got sanctioned from this gullible bureaucracy as these vehicles are to be enjoyed by them. Does anyone know in this wretched and poor country how much is the total government fuel expenditure? How many official cars are there as compared to the number of entitled officers??? How much is the permissible fuel expenditure? Now compare this with the number of vehicles and fuel expenditure of USA? I guess I should stop here and reduce the shock. God Bless all who give me the opportunity to tell all. Should the Judiciary be probing this? The government functionaries should do this at their own. Such things should not be handled by Judiciary. But unfortunately this population of 170 million does not have even one officer or a Man to do this. Therefore, it might again land up at the judiciary's table. God Bless this country.
